Breaking the Author – Week Ten

It’s March 13th, 2016, which means it’s time for the Week Ten update!

My goals for Week Nine were:

  • Write Shapes 2 Part 6
  • Write for the Writing Game Year 2
  • Continue broad edits on Writing Game Year One
  • Finish line edits on Shapes 1
  • Maintain the blog
  • Submit Shibboleth short story

So you can see I still haven’t finished line edits on Shapes 1. Part of that is I am still reconciling some of the broader aspects of the worldbuilding, because if I’m going to publish this story, I need it to have all the correct pieces in place so that the stories I’m writing going forward in the world aren’t contradicting of information in the past stories.

I also didn’t get around to submitting the Shibboleth short story, but that’s less of a concern than others. And finally, I didn’t write for the Writing Game Year 2 because we had a slight disruption in the start of the second week. The following week now becomes Week 2 in that game, so I’ll be writing on a different story for that one.

The Wings Take Shape, the novella I am posting weekly here on the blog, is moving right along, and I’m mostly just glad to have weekly content that I’m sharing with you all.

My goals for next week are thus:

  • Write Shapes 2 Part 7
  • Write Week 2 for Writing Game Year 2
  • Continue broad edits on Writing Game Year 1
  • Finish line edits on Shapes 1
  • Maintain the blog
  • Submit a short story, not necessarily Shibboleth

I’m a little disheartened that it’s almost the middle of March and I haven’t finished a single major Editing Goal for my year, but I’m keeping up on it as best I can and that’s really all I can do right now with my limited free time and mental energy.

Until next week, tackle a goal you’ve been putting off for whatever reason. You’ll thank yourself later for making moves on your goals!
