It’s November 22nd, 2015. Week forty six of writing 1,000 words per day of fiction. It’s time for another update!
Days 319 through 325 have been successes, with a minimum of 1,000 words per day written.
Stats for Days 319 to 325:
Day 319 – 1317 words
Day 320 – 1754 words
Day 321 – 1803 words
Day 322 – 1545 words
Day 323 – 1699 words
Day 324 – 1754 words
Day 325 – 1564 words
Total count for the year thus far is 408,513 words. Average daily word count is 1,257 words. WIP Savage Duty is at 57,368 words. Based on 120,000 words estimated for expected completion, it is 48% complete.
Trying to get back into the normal swing of things after the terrible events in Paris and elsewhere, so I want to talk a little about what’s going on for the rest of the year.
You may have noticed that my daily word count spiked considerably starting at Day 320. That is because I ran some numbers and figured out that if I was going to finish Savage Duty by the end of the year (or close to the end of the year), I was going to have to increase my daily output.
In a happy coincidence, finishing Savage Duty by the end of the year will put me somewhere right around 465,000 words for the year, or 100K words over my initial goal. That’s more than 125% of my minimum goal for the year.
Can I get a FUCK YEAH? Yeah, I thought so.
This week also saw completion of my serial story I’ve been posting to the blog over the last four months or so (seventeen weeks). It’s been nice having something to post that is something I worked on this year, and I’m toying with ideas on what to do next. I don’t want to write anything else new for the year that isn’t Savage Duty, so I might start editing and posting something else I’ve worked on throughout the year (there’s several short stories and another novella possible).
The novella is time travel and is pretty complex, so I don’t necessarily know if it’s going to be good for a weekly blog posting. But I have plenty to pull from, so we’ll see what happens this Tuesday when I need to post some fiction!
That’s all I have for this week, y’all. Until next week, soldier on and forth and upwards and any direction but backwards.
