It’s September 27th, 2015. Week thirty eight of writing 1,000 words per day of fiction. It’s time for another update!
Days 263 through 269 have been successes, with a minimum of 1,000 words per day written.
Stats for Days 263 to 269:
Day 263 – 1011 words
Day 264 – 1043 words
Day 265 – 1023 words
Day 266 – 1007 words
Day 267 – 1279 words
Day 268 – 1052 words
Day 269 – 1086 words
Total count for the year thus far is 341,302 words. Average daily word count is 1,268 words. WIP No Shit is complete pending edits. New WIP Savage Duty is at 8,849 words. Based on 120,000 words estimated for expected completion, it is 7.3% complete.
Savage Duty has begun! This is the working title for the third book in the Shades of the Past series, which I can talk about forever if people let me, but mostly I want to mention that this is very clearly going to be the “end” of the story for the two main characters Addison and Winn. Lots of stuff will happen in this world, but a lot of it takes place in future generations, which I know I’ve stated before, but I think it bears repeating. This is the third book in a trilogy. Stories will end here, and new ones will take their place down the line.
The shapeshifter story continues! I have a few more parts to go until it is completed, maybe as many as five or six. I think I might attempt to put the time travel story up as a continuing serial after it is completed, or just focus on putting up a few standalone short stories for a month or so.
I have plans for November, which I’ll just mention now is NaNoWriMo, or National Novel Writing Month. The goal is to write a 50,000 word novel in 30 days. I’ve done it before, and I’ve actually had some amazingly good months this year, but in none of them have I written 50,000 words on a single story (or at all). I think I’m going to up my game a little bit for the month of November and attempt to write an average of 1,667 words a day during all of November, which works out to just above 50,000 words for the month. I will definitely still be working on Savage Duty by the first of the month, so hopefully by then I’ve got a pretty solid gameplan so that I can breeze through the month without much more difficulty than I’m currently experiencing.
Until next week, steady hands and clear minds!
