It’s August 23rd, 2015. Week thirty three of writing 1,000 words per day of fiction. It’s time for another update!
Days 228 through 234 have been successes, with a minimum of 1,000 words per day written.
Stats for Days 228 to 234:
Day 228 – 1061 words
Day 229 – 1004 words
Day 230 – 1127 words
Day 231 – 1351 words
Day 232 – 1026 words
Day 234 – 1018 words
Day 235 – 1295 words
Total count for the year thus far is 295,889 words. So close to 300K! Average daily word count is 1,264 words. WIP Avalon Circle is at 88,311 words. Based on current projections, Avalon Circle is 84% complete.
You may have noticed a spike in Avalon Circle’s completion progress this week as compared to last week. I mentioned I might be updating the estimated completion count for Avalon Circle, and I made that decision this week based on where I am in the story. Originally it was 116,000 words and now I have dropped it to 105,000 words. Which puts me at about 17,000 words left to write on the story. Probably about three weeks to get through that, so mid-September? Maybe.
The other writing games have been going well. I dedicated three days this past week to writing for them, a total of about 3,000 words. One of those is the Shape of Family, which has been posting to the Blog on Tuesdays. The other is the epistolary game which I hadn’t written for in a couple weeks and was very glad to get to come back. It’s a fascinating and fun world to write in.
Last big tidbit of news is that I have a change coming up on the blog. Once I started posting the weekly serial for Shape of Family, it was going up on Tuesdays for whatever reason my mind conjured up, and that was setting my blog update schedule into a kind of lopsided crunch (three posts in four days, then three whole days of nothing). So starting this coming week, the blog schedule will be as follows:
Sundays: Progress
Tuesdays: Stories
Thursdays: Motivationals
Sunday will still see my weekly Challenge updates. As the year starts to come to a close and I think about where I want to be next year in terms of my writing goals, this Sunday update may alter a bit in form or function, but it will still be my Progress Update day.
Tuesdays will be days I post stories. If I don’t have a story or a piece of a story to post, then Tuesday will be nothing. For the foreseeable future, Shape of Family will be serialized in a weekly format, so there’s not much fear that there won’t be posts on Tuesdays. And I may have a decent backlog of other stories at that point, so who knows what’ll happen?
Thursdays, instead of Wednesdays, will be my Motivational updates. This is to facilitate a more measured posting pace on those weeks when I have a story to post. If I post a story, it’s a max of two days passing before another update, and if I don’t post a story, it’s a max of three days passing before another update. Right now it’s a little lopsided so I’m just changing the day for this to accommodate the story posting.
Now that all that’s dealt with, you can go back about your day!
